GG’s Food Truck all started with one lady named Louise Gasby also known as “Soot.” Soot always had a great passion for cooking and was well-known in her neighborhood of Gowanus, Brooklyn for her incredible soul food dishes. Mrs. Gasby had 15 children, therefore making sure her kids and husband came home to a hot plate was always a priority. Additionally, her generous heart also opened her doors to the people of her community who had nothing to eat. Soot made sure all her daughters learned how to cook and one of her daughters is Great Gasby also known as “GG.” From Louise Gasby’s incredible influence, GG’s Fish n’ Chips with Soul was born. 50 years later their food truck is serving the same downtown Brooklyn neighborhood and all around New York City, featuring the same recipes and concepts Soot used in her very own kitchen.
